Rameybasketball.com presents the 3rd Annual Midwest Showdown High School Basketball Shootout held on December 12, 2009 at Robert F. Hyland Performance Arena on the campus of Lindenwood University. The Robert F. Hyland Performance Arena was built in 1997 and is home to many Lindenwood athletic programs along with athletic department offices.This years event will feature 12 teams competing in 6 games including top teams from: MO, AL, TN, & IL. Madison brings in the dynamic and very athletic senior duo of
6'5 Eric Mason (pictured) and 6'4 Xavier Williams. While
Duchesne brings in a very experienced team
that brings back several starters and key performers from a
16-10 team led by 6'4 sr. Tyler Lowenstein (pictured) &
6'4 sr. Joe Vehige
Head Coach Jim McLaughlin brings in his tradition rich Homewood-Flossmoor team
into this year shootout fresh offa 22-6 season last year. Oakville fresh off winning a
district and sectional titles and a Class 5A state apperance looks to continue thier winning
ways with a very experienced team led by 6'6 senior post player Garrett Reeg (pictured)
and rising junior guard 6'3 Javier Duren.
Memphis Woodale and head coach Jerry Johnson bring in a very
exciting Memphis Woodale team that is a favorite to contend for a
state title in Memphis. Woodale brings back 6 of their top scorers
from last year led by 6'0 sr. guard Marquis Wilson pictured.
Soldan also brings back several starters and their top four scorers
from last season led by 6'1 senior guard Brier West (pictured). The
Tigers just got a boost with the arrival of 6'7 senior transfer Terrence
Brown who ranks as one ofthe top post players in the area.
6'3 Craigmont guard Cedrick McAfee (pictured) is worth the price of admission as he is one of the most explosive guards in the nation and is currently ranked as the #67 prospect in the class of 2011 by
Rivals.com. McAfee already holds offers from: Missouri, Alabama, Memphis, Arkansas,
Mississippi, Tennessee, Oregan State, and UTEP. Ft. Zumwalt South returns a strong
nuclues of players from last years team that went 20-8 they will be led by 6'0 junior guard
JR. Alexander, 6'4 sr Andrew Riggs and expect big contributions from 6'5 freshman Jordan
Swopshire who is the younger brother of University of Louisville star Jared Swopshire and
6'9 junior big man Kris Wienstock.
East Aurora brings in one of the nations top Class of 2011 point guards in 5'10 Ryan
Boatright (pictured) . The former USC Committ has the nation buzzing and his recruiting
sizzling. The dazzling and very athletic Boatright is currently ranked as the #69 player in
the class of 2011 by Rivals.com and holds offers from: Miami, USC, Florida State, and
Kansas state. Ritenour will counter with All-State 6'0 guard
Corey Allen (pictured) who averaged 21 points a game last
season for a 19-10 Huskies team. Allen is a crowd pleasing
and very athletic player.
Lee High School out of Huntsville, Alabama makes the trek to St. Louis with a very
explosive team that plays an uptempo defensive minded style reminisent of the
Missouri Tigers. Lee High School enters this season as the pre season #1 ranked
team in the state of Alabama and will be led by 6'6 Louisville University committ Josh
Langford (picture) who is ranked in the top 100 by Rivals.com, Lee also features
6'6 jr. point guard Devin Langford who is a crowd pleaser and already holds offers
from: Alabama, Wake Forest, and Maryland. Whitfield Warriors returns basically all
their top performers from last years team that lost in the Class 4A state championship
game. the Warriors will be led by the trio of seniors 6'3 All State
player Julian Johnson (pictured) who average 18 points a game
last year, 6'3 Maurice Burns, and 6'6 Alex Rudd. The
sharpshooting Rudd returns after missing last year with an ACL tear. Rudd
averaged double figures during his sophomore year.
